P.G DIPLOMA CBT
Introduction
This program is an opportunity to learn CBT in a systematic, structured Format and Students will learn CBT therapy as it is commonly conceptualized by practitioners such as A. Beck; J. Beck; J. Persons; and C. Padesky among others. The skills learned in the certificate program will be applicable to clients with significant difficulties such as depression, and anxiety, as well as clients who are interested in counseling from a coping or growth perspective.
The program will focus on assisting participants to:-
Develop strong conceptual and intervention skills. The training will be a combination of didactic material, for self study, tutor guided modules with assignments and questionnaires.
Course contents: – the course will comprise following tutor guided 1-5 &11 and wny two from others.study modules text book based written assignments.
Module 1: Introduction to the CBT and four main approaches to CBT
The first module will present a brief history of CBT, contextualizing it within the mental health and therapeutic professions. It will also look at the importance of the therapeutic relationship and how this is relevant to the delivery of positive experience within therapy programmes.
Module 2: CBT tools/approaches
In this module students will look at the core and specialist skills needed to deliver CBT effectively. It will also explore and examine the strategies and knowledge base that underpins these skills.
Assessment
This module will discuss how to assess a client for CBT. The student will learn about presenting the information in a logical way with clear examples and case studies to demonstrate the process.
Module 5: Psychological problems and CBT
By psychological disorders we mean examples such as panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorders etc. Again the materials will present case studies and related example program which will demonstrate the appropriate skills use.
Module 6.: Anxiety problems and CBT
There are many anxiety states that can benefit from CBT; this module looks at a range of different cases and the application of CBT skills to facilitate appropriate behavior changes.
Module 7: Personality disorders and CBT
Various personality disorders will be examined and explored in relation to CBT and how this approach may be beneficial to these clients.
Module 8: Strange thoughts and beliefs and CBT
CBT can be helpful in addressing problems with irrational thoughts and beliefs by facilitating change in both behavior and thought patterns. This module will explore these changes through discussion of case studies and approaches within the CBT setting.
Module 9: Anger management and CBT
Within anger management, violent behavior is included, and this module will look at how behavior can be managed through CBT in relation to social awareness and events or thoughts that trigger anger and violence.
Module 10: Unusual settings
This module will look at setting such as the criminal justice environment, community therapy and other unusual settings that CBT may be delivered in. There will be clear examples and discussion of past cases to demonstrate effectiveness of CBT
Module 11- LIVE CASE HISTORY SOLUTION FOCUSED PROJECT WORK.
This is a post qualifying course for individuals drawn from the helping professions. It is designed to encourage participants who have keen desire to help and plan of working in a professional capacity in the community, particularly with children or adolescents, to continue their professional and personal development in the field of counseling.
